Life in an Appearance Culture
I think that without a doubt we can all be found guilty of living in this culture. The big question is whether or not we are guilty of listening to everything this culture tells us. I think I am somewhat guilty of following the expectations set by the appearance culture.

I think that without a doubt we can all be found guilty of living in this culture. The big question is whether or not we are guilty of listening to everything this culture tells us. I think I am somewhat guilty of following the expectations set by the appearance culture.
Somewhat Guilty:
- Working out- I workout a lot because I feel society wants me to be fit or that I could receive more benefits if I was fit.
- Following a Diet- Same thing can be said for the diet.
- Making choices based on what society wants- From food choices to clothing.
- Designer Clothes- I would rather wear a designer shirt from a well known store than from Wal-Mart. There may not be a whole lot of difference in the quality, but because of the appearance culture, I would rather have the designer shirt. The same can be said for shoes. I would rather have Nike's compared to an off brand.
- Never have worn something that would reflect poorly on my parents or any member of my family.
- No derogatory slogan shirts
- Uphold our values.

- Online classes- communication through online discussions and web pages.
Communication through face to face or on the phone are the most effective modes of communication in my opinion.
- Picking up emotional reactions through emails, or text messages is difficult if not nearly impossible.
- Talking face to face requires immediate feedback.
- With emails or text messages, the receiver chooses when to reply.
